Campione! #05 — More Underwear Shenanigans
August 3rd, 2012
Well, it was only a few seconds, but it was the best part of the episode.
As mentioned previously, Joshiraku’s new first broadcasts are now Fridays… but today the broadcast is pushed back from its already late-ish time to over an hour later. It may be a while before it pops up, let alone I get to it due to being so far off the usual. Aaaand, in Choco’s eternal delay escapades, the KBS broadcast ended up taking next week off too. So no new episodes at all next week, followed by two new episodes the week after at the usual Thursday time (the 16th). Hopefully that’s the final word on that.
Impressions:
Yawn. Vapid episode. I suppose it’s better than the usual expositional spews. Except that said infodumping was replaced with what was probably supposed to be Mariya’s real non-expositiontastic introduction, but was just very very pointless, half because she has about as interesting of a personality as Godou. I guess she gives him ‘depth’ by letting him be boring while she takes his role of being constantly flustered. Her plot-convenient visions just annoy me more. It didn’t have the one to two minutes of actual fighting that made the previous episodes stomachable either. Mariya cooked, Mariya played baseball badly, Godou took her cell phone shopping. Mariya was kidnapped by what appeared to be an Italian vampire. Exciting.
At least Erica was flouncing around and marking her territory. I’d rather have twenty minutes of wasting time like that than the fat lot of nothing I got instead. At least I can make fun of that and make bad sexual jokes. Like when his old ‘friend’ called… with his big stiff fishing rod between his legs… and stroking his sword. Actually, I’m not entirely certain what more there to say about that one. In any case, yawn. Eminently skippable on just about every front. Not a good week for the already trashy AT-X shows.

“Yappy Phone.” Sometimes I could swear someone on staff actually speaks English and slips these in.
