Driland #01 — …Why Does This Exist?

July 7th, 2012

At least I’ll forget about it immediately.

Impressions:

I have no idea why this show exists, or at least why it exists as an evening show airing at midnight. Then again, I have no real idea why AT-X’s boob anime block airs weekday mornings either. Are there people getting up and thinking "Man, I want to start my day with corny flouncing animated tits."?

Anyway, back to this… It’s indistinguishable from any of a billion other generic trashy kid’s shows, just for some reason airing when no children would be watching it. If it were on Saturday morning at 9am, it’d fit right in and I’d probably have ignored it entirely. Hell, it begins with the characters tickling each other. I really have no idea what the point of it is, but I suspect they started production before securing an airtime. It is not a silly parody like Guruguru, the cutesiness is not used for comical purposes like Potemayo. It’s exactly what it looks like on the tin, just… generic "I wanna go onna adventure! Believe in ourselves and we can find happy adventures! If I do my best, we can all happy adventuring!"

At least it was only 20 minutes long, and that’s including OP/ED. Nothing to see here. Move along, move along.

Preview:

Shoot it with your pellet musket.

Maybe it pulls a Madoka Magica on Episode 3. (I’m joking, of course).

  • Kyano says:

It’s an advert for a social game. Not sure why they thought this was a good idea though…

Welcome to humanity, you must be new here.

  • Kefit says:

To be fair, more anime should start with tickling.
