Medaka Box #07 — Slowly Driving Me Insane

May 16th, 2012

Well, they found a way to get my attention… sort of.

Impressions:

And rounding out a very dull Wednesday is this churning out yet another very generic and very dull episode. I’m so very sick of monologues for today. Hitoyoshi and the newbie awkwardly stare at each other for a while while monologuing to themselves and then make up some random extra flashbacks about how Medaka’s the best thing ever. And that’s about it. I think there was a joke in there somewhere about how she’s greedy, but if you blink, you might miss it. Then for the second half, they realized that the show had gone 12 minutes in the last three weeks without swimsuits so had a parade of them getting painted before Shiranui was arbitarily picked as the right one for being the most undeveloped.

But let’s talk about how this episode affected me on a personal level. They trotted out a new sound effect for characters looking stunned… a kind of ringing/beeping when their eyes are bouncing around. That sound is practically identical to my alarm clock. It was like having car beeps in a radio song. Every four or five minutes I was jolted out of the dull haze the rest of the show was putting me into as my mind obeyed its years of conditioned response and screamed at me "Time to wake up and take a shower!" So now the show has begun actively punishing me. Thanks, Jump.

This show sure likes its manservice…

  • Cytl says:

I think we’re like two episodes from things going weird (be it for good or bad).

  • Kaisos says:

Yeah, it’s almost at the X-Men part.

    • Aroduc says:

      Thank god.

      I think.

Just in time to be over, so it’s irrelevant!

Well, they’re not as wrong as the people who told you Haqua was going to save Kami Nomi.
