The Legend of Korra #04 — CG Cars

April 28th, 2012

Well gee, now I feel right at home.

Impressions:

So this little Saturday experiment is off to a rousing start with the episode being leaked early. Oh well. Unfortunately, it wasn’t a particularly good episode either, especially on following up last week’s. We get it, Korra’s scared and you’re pushing all this weird relationship stuff so hard you’d think they were constipated. Darth Tarloc has also been taking lessons from Palpatine in agenda-hiding. And yes, I’m aware or the irony of complaining about a lack of subtlety in a show that airs after two straight hours of Spongebob Squarepants, but damn it, I’m going to do it regardless. I’m mostly in it for the fighting anyway, but at least the uncomfortable humor and magical pets were kept to a minimum this week so it wasn’t as obnoxious as it could’ve been.

Otherwise, not really a whole lot this week. Mako, being the boy-prostitute of the group finds his sugar mommy who totally doesn’t have some other agenda I’m sure. Nobody wears that much maschera and isn’t evil. Or is Zhang He. Hmmm… Ahem. Also Amon gives the whole supervillain "I could defeat you now, but where’s the fun in that?" spiel. I’m still having a hard time buying that he has the ultimate super awesome power reserved for only the best of the best, particularly this early in the series and that scene just felt like a really bad stereotypical supervillain scene to do whatever they could to string those smoke and mirrors along. I did chuckle a little bit at "Behold my masterpiece! A CG car!" Aaah, animation.

    and the other 3 episodes ……

  • Tachi says:

    Oof, asami ~

  • shadow says:

    the other season is best.

  • Athos says:

    …I can’t quite tell whether that’s Toph’s natural hair-do or an M. Bison hat.

  • NightShadow2239 says:

    I’ve rather enjoyed this series so far as do my friends. Nice to see you “enjoying” it the Aroduc way also.

  • Di Gi Kazune says:

    I am the Avatar! Master of all Four elements!
    I am Mendeleev! Master of all 118! *whoosh* That was polonium bending.

    That does not remotely look like M. Bison. Looks like Vega to me.

    Anyway, the show is more coherent that say… that kyotoshit show. Going to shit with this for the long run.

  • AppleJack says:

    U.S. – Japan
    M. Bison = Vega
    Balrog = M. Bison
    Vega = Balrog
    Sagat = Sagat

    Which one do you mean?

  • Comicazie says:

    Is it just me or did grown up toph just look “stretched” and uninspired?
    I thought it was just a little bit typical to see how she looked more or less the same >_>
    either way I loved ep 4 :P
