If ever there was an object lesson for Show Don’t Tell…

Impressions:

Another atrocious episode. Things do seem like they’ll improve next week, but three abysmal episodes in a row out of four total and I’m out. It was slightly better than last week’s in a couple ways. One of those ways was not Haru, who woke up screaming in terror from a ‘nightmare’ about girls stripping and rubbing their breasts on him. …And then spent the remainder of the episode wallowing in self-pity and crying about how nobody could ever care about him, but luckily, protagonist power and Black here sensed super specialness in him and it was love at first sight. Great. I hadn’t had a good retch in a while.

But on to the improvements, slight as they may have been. They were actually walking around instead of just standing there stock still. At least I could giggle at WcDonalds again instead of getting to see the roof of the cafe for the eighth time. Running over one of them with a car also had a little more oomph to it than… well… anything else in this show to date besides maybe pig-squash. Regardless, how do we know she’s strong? She told us. How do we know she’s sacrificing anything? She told us. How do we know she’s weak now? She told us. How do we know her feelings on anything? She told us. How do we know how the new super secret deus ex ability works? She told us. AT LENGTH. My god, almost 10% of the episode was explaining "I can make my body move fast too." Good god, Sunrise. This is a visual medium. Stop treating it like an audiotape.
