Shana â…¢#16 — Yak Yak Yak

January 27th, 2012

…Maybe the next antagonist will be a yak with a pair of bongos.

Oops. Forgot to set my alarm. That said, Symphogear’s still not up anywhere in any form. Odd.

Impressions:

Not like it matters, this episode was just talking heads from start to finish. There comes a time in your show about girls on fire, giant snakes, monsters, armies fighting, and lions with vuvuzelas when you need to shut up and hit something. That time was about 15 episodes ago. I miss the simpler days. Sure, they could be somewhat formulaic. New monster arrives in town, Yuuji and Shana get into some spat, make up while killing it with some new magical technique, and then at least a 50% chance they’d plunder the corpse for anything of value. That was a fine formula. It didn’t involve lions with vuvuzelas and generally meant only one episode out of four was spent entirely on completely unnecessary exposition. Army of good guys just got chased off by giant snake god trying to create a new world. How much more motivation and setup does that need exactly?

The rest I basically dozed through, wondering where the hell Symphogear was with brief moments to contemplate how much damn light bloom there was in the show. Was that on discount this week, JC Staff?

Oh boy, Yoshida.

So looking forward to your reaction to what the finale is. I could swear the author reads this blog.

  • Di Gi Kazune says:

Shana should just buy the Durians(tm) at the Hong Kong market and use it to beat some sense into Yuji.
