High School Boys #01 — Reduce, Recycle, Reuse
January 9th, 2012
And this one I know I’ve seen before.
Impressions:
And for our other unpleasant Monday surprise, we have this. Segmented into four different segments, two of which have already been released as the pre-airing specials. That’s right, if you were interested in this show, then you’ve already seen half of this episode. If you already suffered through those, waiting and hoping for it to tell a joke that doesn’t involve someone screaming as the punchline, then you get to do it again. Well, or not. I stopped watching 5 minutes from the end when it got to the book girl segment, which was the very first of the pre-airing specials and possibly the only one that my body wasn’t trying to make me sleep through.
It started so promisingly too… kind of. At the very least, it started with more animation, parody, and promises of violence than the entire set of pre-airing things combined. That lasted all of a couple minutes. I suppose that means that if you thought the pre-airings were hilarious, then bully for you, because it’s literally the exact same thing… and there’s six more of them to go through too. Production remains middling to poor, and the jokes are neither creative and only rarely do they not end in me wincing from being yelled at. If they want to make cluelessness and general stupidity funny, how about not having the characters practically scream "WHAT YOU DID IS SO STUPID!" constantly?
Mondays, you suck.

So long and thanks for all the fish.

Recently a certain manga did a segment where they said “you know what the foreigners who don’t understand manzai are saying? They say ‘why is that one with the glasses always screaming?'”
I feared that all the segments would be recycled…
