Horizon on the Middle of Nowhere #11 — Keeps Going, and Going, and Going…

December 10th, 2011

That seems like something people should have known about beforehand.

Impressions:

Certainly not as good as last week’s episode, but a decent episode. Like last week’s episode, almost all of the action was confined to the second half, with the first being mostly the Pope using an energy drain across everybody and then Toori countering it by being the world’s biggest Energizer. Neit’s part in particular seemed very short after being the cliffhanger for last week. She just dropped in, cleared some space, got her head rubbed, and that was it. The rest of the first half was mostly a lot of Papal posturing. Better than exposition, but I’ve really had about enough of him standing around as I can stand. At least he started finally actually doing something… sort of. Rushing up to Masazumi later to scream at her before running off again was an improvement, but he’s still not very menacing nor interesting to listen to.

The second half was about half Noriki fighting Galileo and Mune, but a lot of that was very Japanesy "every punch comes with 6 lines explaining it," so… yeah. That could have been a lot tighter and better. Then aforementioned Papal yelling before Muneshige and Futayo. Thankfully, that was quite a bit better if rather brief. I doubt they’re quite finished with him anyway since it ends with him about to fire his giant phallic gun Horizobot reading trans-transgendered comics. Japan has reached a strange place when they’re making beefcake male versions of the feminized versions of historical male warlords.

More RPG fighting. Cue Shounen manga moments. Futayo didn’t grind enough with Tonbokiri.

Also, for anyone who actually wants to watch the series and want to try and understand what’s going on, here you go:
