The Mystic Archive of Dantalian #04 — Misery

How apt.

Rabbit seems MIA again, on both the usual channels and on NicoNico’s webcast where it was supposed to be up 15 minutes ago. Punctuality is apparently not their strong point.

Impressions:

Well, this was a significant improvement over last week’s debacle, but was still pretty bad. The show is getting significantly cheaper too. So so so many slow zooms, distance shots, and random cuts to stills. When they first meet Ms. Crazy, there was an almost 30 second slow zoom on Dalian’s face for absolutely no reason whatsoever. She wasn’t talking or even moving, they just apparently didn’t even want to bother animating anything at all.

The core problem though was the same as last week’s too. The show was more focused on very transparently trying to sell Dalian as ‘cute’ and ‘precocious’ while all the other stuff went on around them, and then it was resolved while they just sat on the sidelines and watched. The book this time revived people, letting Ms. Crazy kill the pair over and over again until they actually bother to fight back and book her away. The end. Way to show up, protagonists.

    I really love this show…
I just find the zooming on Dalian’s face to be a bit annoying now…

  • sup says:

I would watch this show if it was just 23 minutes of random zooms of Dalian and her saying “Yes!” in various inflections.

  • Scott says:

How could you fail to mention that she plans to write a fan-fiction of a book series involving two male lovers?
