Yuruyuri #04 — Dangerous Pyrotechnics

July 25th, 2011

Why are there three characters wearing the same swimsuit? It’s supposed to be all or nothing.

Impressions:

I really do not like how they go out of their way to telegraph Chitose’s delusions every time. A 2-3 second alert that a joke will now be shown with the same punchline every single time is a poor idea. All they’d really have to do is remove the whole glasses sequence and just let the delusion appear without the giant alert and that would improve things greatly. Oddly enough, Akari seems to be getting the majority of the good jokes these days, few as they are. They’re at least continuing to find new ways to undercut her attempts to be a main character and leave her behind, which is more than I can say for most of the rest.

Not too much else to say this week. First half and the overall framing was tanabata wishes along with Ayano trying to beat Kyouko at some random test, while the second half was your generic beach sequence to put them in bikinis and yukatas as all shows are required to do by law at least once a season. Himawari still has large breasts, Chitose still fantasizes about Kyouko licking Ayano, and they have sparklers that are leave traces in the air for impossibly long times. You can probably guess 98% of the jokes yourself from there.

Preview:

New characters.

Yeah, Chitose is one of my least favorite characters, which is weird cause she is basically a depraved Yui. The other Yui. Maybe it’s the constant nosebleeds that’s wearing thin. They have never been funny, Japan.

  • Anise_Punter says:

Chitose needs to die in some sort of fire.

I don’t even want to imagine depraved Yuis.

I said to myself I’m done with show where men don’t exist/women have must have wangs but then I sayw the preview for ep 4 and now I’m stuck again.

  • Benigmatica says:

Um, guys… What about Akarin? I mean, she’s losing precious amounts of screentime.

the glasses transition works better in the manga because of the panels, it´s following the manga a bit too close
