Magical Boys Tiger-chan & Bunny-tan #05 — Butlers… AWAY!

April 30th, 2011

Stock footage senses tingling…

Impressions:

This episode was terrible, but on the upside, the last five minutes reached past the point of merely being tediously bad and pushed into hilarity. They also pushed into some really godawful production values (seriously… what the hell happened to this poor guy’s head?), but I can ignore that for now. This week was Barnaby’s birthday, so after Kotetsu screwed up (off-screen) and then kicked one of Barnaby’s fans pens into the street to be run over by a truck, he wanted to do something special, so decided to get him a surprise birthday mugging. Yeah. The mind boggles. Then, after that predictably fails, the show’s writing goes completely off the rails.

By complete chance, they run into a guy who can turn his whole body into diamond who is lurking around alleys after stealing a diamond. He flies off with his team of jetpack butlers while Kotetsu and Barnaby have a transformation sequence into their suits. Then, when they catch up with him, he just stops and stands there, proclaiming his invincibility and inviting the protagonists to hit him as much as they want. He does not even try to fight back even once. Just stands there. Luckily, he actually is slightly invulnerable… until the suits’ latent SUPER TEAM UP AWESOME FACTOR X Overblow kicks in, turning Kotetsu’s hand really big and Barnaby’s leg really big. And then Barnaby can’t walk straight anymore as he limps off with his ‘birthday present’ of getting to turn in the guy he just caught. Way to go, Kotetsu.

But hey, they’re starting to put in supervillains now and it looks like another one (a pyromaniac with a giant robot from the looks of things) will be around next week. That’s a step up.

When can I get an ep dedicated solely to Sky High or Ivan?! They gave that sucker Blue Rose one ep last time but not to the better heroes? Sexism much? And I’d rather watch those 2 PWN-ing villains instead of lame-ass Kotetsu & his poor attempts to ass-hump Bunny-chan…
