¡Invasión! Chica Chipirón #06 — Las Matemáticas Son Inútiles…

November 8th, 2010

The mind tends to wander into other languages when bored.

Impressions:

A pretty weak episode, especially following last week’s mini-squid adventure. I’m glad that they didn’t go for the completely predictible joke of Squidhead misunderstanding the superhero show and attacking things, but all that really happened there is that she cheered for the squid demon, and then dressed like it to be cheered. Throw in a ‘parody’ OP of Noh Mask Rider and I’ve now listed 100% of the jokes in that segment in approximately two sentences. The second part was a little better. Squid’s a genius at math while Eiko’s an idiot. Genius is probably stretching it though since she did nothing but basic algebra, although I did laugh when for the first example, they had the answer be X = 0. Is Eiko even trying? Is Diomedea? Anyway, she then tried to use her mastery of math to enslave others as well and learned that nobody cares before imparting her squid secrets to Eiko. QED.

That brings us to el segmento final, Nagisa develops a crush on Goro, which turns Squid jealous because Nagisa belongs to her. The ‘love’ quadrangle (more like a linear path while we’re on the subject of math) wasn’t horrible and at least contained about as many jokes as the entire rest of the episode, but they didn’t do anything particularly interesting with it either. It was just the three of them standing around yelling at each other for 7 minutes. Nagisa’s occasion delusion were about the only thing to differentiate that segment from the thousand others that have come before. Well, that and the tentacles.

shouldn´t it be ´´chica calamar´´? what the hell is a chipiron?

  • Ransom says:

Chipirón es un calamar pequeño, aunque es la primera vez que lo leo, y eso que soy hablante nativo!

    Yay! Viva el español!

I like english and japanese but I still like my native language better XD Are you learning spanish Aroduc? Nice touch :)

  • haitechan says:

LOL spanish! What’s next, “La fille calmar”?. I’m a native spanish speaker and also didn’t knew what the hell was a chipirón until Ransom mentioned it XD.

    • Dante says:

I know both spanish and french and to be honest “chipirón” isn’t bad but… is an “old fashioned” word to describe squid XD.

  • Aroduc says:

You (Mexicans/Spaniards) have no appreciation for alliteration.

I’m a Puertorican, and I’d say your Spanish was muy bien.

Oh, and take a drink everytime someone has a thought in the third segment.

And yes, they totally ripped off Lucky Star with the girl on the first segment.

  • Solaris says:

Good Job Aroduc. You started a “spanish language” revolution without even knowing it XD.

That was more fun than the review indeed. Why don’t you try to tell the next one completely in some other language, for a change? Squidian, maybe? :P

  • alex says:

poor Ika no one understands her, only Sanae understands her superiority :)
