Letter Bishies: Reverse Blood #01 — 80s Musical Reference
October 2nd, 2010
Snarky comment.
Impressions:
Deen-Pierrot’s stunning masterpiece about the Shinsengumi zombies running through a post-apocalyptic Japan delivering letters with their pantyless little girl continues magnificently. They waste no time in recap at all, or letting you recover from the break in seasons with an entire episode about the heroes moping about the cliffhanger from the previous season and simply plunge you right back into the action, delivering letters and posing meaningfully like the manly Adonises of pure dripping masculinity that they are. I don’t see how anybody could ever get tired of looking at their austere visages.
The production remains simply stunning, showing every little piece of snow melting as it falls and every strand of hair as the characters throw back their heads and let their glorious locks settle onto their shoulders. The designs are so realistic and lifelike that I sometimes forgot I was watching something animated. Deen-Pierrot really are the unmatched gods of animation and they proved it here once more. The only bad thing I can say is that it was simply too perfect and has now ruined other anime for me forever. No other show can hope to live up to this one. Oh well, it’s been a good run.
