The Legend of the Legendary Heroes #07 — Dragon Save

August 12th, 2010

I should feel worse for that pun than I do.

Impressions:

Sigh. Don’t get me wrong. I’m extremely happy that the story this week moved away from Sion and his crappy intrigue stuff, but instead of going back to Lyner this ended up being all about Milk. She’s okay, but she could use a lot more of Amelia’s sheer bullheadedness and a lot less angst. A less generic backstory would also help immensely. She’s got it all. Childhood friend, burning orphanage, promise to marry, spontaneous flashback-induced crying, man-harem willing to sacrifice themselves in the name of her cuteness, you name it, it’s there. She got mopey at the end of the episode after betraying her gang to try to protect Lyner too. Screw sacrificing yourself and whining, girlfriend, love is fireballs.

There was also a brief introduction to the treasure hunter siblings Ku and Sui, but they essentially just showed up and wandered off again. Besides, I cannot take a man with pink hair seriously. Absolutely nothing on the plot front outside of the cliffhanger of "war were declared" at the end of the episode. Lyner found a widget, had no idea what it did, so threw it at the soldiers that popped up to add a little drama and it summoned a dragon. The two fights mostly consisted of stills of Ferris posing too, so they were not exactly the height of Zexcs’ animation efforts. Next week looks like it’s completely back to Sion’s side of things, but thankfully, no Sion and mostly the battlefield. We’ll see I guess.

Lyner questions why he has yet to be the focus of an episode since episode 3.

What was the main point of this series again? Was there some motivation for them being together? I honestly can’t remember.
