Hey guys, remember how the world is ending? No? Me either.
I hope that you were longing for a two episode centered Maya having a spat with Ami over her creepy as hell father who has apparently spent his life obsessively doting over Maya. At least they nailed creepy for once, in all the wrong ways. I’m not sure what was worse, Ami’s obsession with her father or her father’s obsession with a girl his daughter’s age. I feel like I’ve said it for the last month and a half, but this show excels when it takes the supernatural side of things and runs with it, not for its lack of character development or random angst spewing forth from tertiary characters totally ignorant of the main plot like some kind of demented oil well.
They also far overshot the ‘supernatural’ side of things this time. The writing’s bad, but I don’t think it’s so abjectedly horrible yet that little flying saucers leaving
save points crop circles is convincing in the slightest. Ergo, that was transparent as hell from the getgo. I didn’t expect Ami’s father to be in on it, but that just added to the creepy factor. Combine this with the fact that Maya didn’t do a damn single thing wrong, and all we’ve got is a bitchy, whiny little brat with a daddy complex sucking up two episodes. How about that occult, eh A-1?
Gee, will they reconcile? Who knows?
