Hellsing Ultimate #07 — Showdown at Cripple Creek

December 23rd, 2009

Delicious armless vampires.

Impressions:

Wow, an episode of Hellsing that took only 5 months to come out and didn’t suck. It’s like we’re back in 2007 again! Imagine how good it’d be if they made an episode in a week!

With the obligatory sarcasm about Hellsing’s production schedule out of the way, this was a very good very action packed episode against something other than the generic ghouls for the first time in the last four episodes… or since February of 2008, depending on how you want to count. Even though Zorin doesn’t have the most interesting ability, it was at least put to good use to keep up the rather grotesque scenes of carnage throughout the episode. It would have been a tad disappointing if Seras had been dumped into some happy memory to distract her as they did with the first one… and I’m kind of glad that we didn’t get a replay of the 50 cheesy foot tall Zorin from the last episode. Nothing like a good ol’ corpse rape scene to fit in well with chewing the fingers off of vampires and wanton slaughter.

The main events this time were Pip’s death, Seras eating him, and then going berserk all over the place… finally. The big guns are impressive and all, but an arm of evil vampireness still has them beat. Admittedly, it wasn’t as impressive as the first couple episodes of this series and I still rolled my eyes at the whole "hiding her heart" thing, but it was still a huge step up from the last couple years worth of this series, so at least they’re starting to get back into the stride of things. Hell, we might even get to see Alucard again before 2011! I’m not holding my breath though.

I’m impressed they’re still working on it. Better than certain other OVA series that seem to have been completely forgotten about *cough*Tales of Symphonia*cough*

    • Aroduc says:

Hey now, UFOTable’s a small studio and they’ve been working on Rakkyo. The continuation of Symphonia’s scheduled for April (I think) anyway. Within the next few months at any rate.

  • shadow says:

In action the men have best action, enemies , and draw.

Alucard will be back in full-swing next Volume.

  • Colin says:

You doubt that OVA 8 will be out before 2011? Damn, that’s some serious pessimism. No OVA has ever taken that long.

  • Dio says:
