Tears to Tiara #16 — Arthur’s Angst

July 20th, 2009

Oh boy! My favorite kind of episode!

Impressions:

I feel like I should just have a form post to toss up whenever an episode of anything centers so heavily on dumb angst. I could just fill out the appropriate check boxes and call it a day.

[   ] Maybe she likes someone else.
[   ] Girls confuse me.
[   ] I’m incompetent.
[   ] He said I’m like a sister.
[ x ] Why should I fight?
[   ] I have this giant robot and that makes me sad.
[   ] A ghost told me that my uncle killed my father to marry my mother.

Outisde of Arthur whining to Ogam for about approaching ten minutes, very little happened. Gaius’ siege continued and Morgan/Octavia made their way back into Avalon. The first person view of Arthur’s fight against the orcs was also rather disorienting, although that could just be the nyquil speaking. There were a couple other rather weird direction choices there too that didn’t quite work though. Ogam’s dragon form was also a lot more Utawarerumonoish (I’m coining that as a word) than I remembered. The highlight of the episode was definitely, without any shadow of a doubt, Llyr’s RATHTY MISSILE. It’s a shame that it came some 21 minutes in and then she threw a temper tantrum after it. I thought it was a valid technique. This episode could have used a lot more ballistic elves.

It’s also funny to me that they’re still struggling to figure out what the hell to do with Llyr. They had her throwing Rathty around at the start and end of the episode, and next week, LASER ELF. At least they haven’t given Limwris a shotgun… yet.

Aside from the awesome armored dragon and the golem made of Arawn’s Kryptonite, nothing new in this ep…

I’mma just wait for mah TTT doujin in C76…

  • DK says:

    … Oh, almost forgot.

I find it hilarious that Arthur thinks he’s being PUNK’d by the WISE OLD MAN.

That’s it! Arthur has ZERO CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT whatsoever. He can go rot as part of Arawn’s harem for all I care.
