Tears to Tiara #10 — Tavia’s Tour

So much alliteration, it hurts.

Impressions:

By Thor, am I sick of setup episodes. At least the other three shows have the excuse that they’re entering their final arcs, but Tiara’s got another 14 episodes ahead of it. I’m pretty sure that I don’t particularly like Arthur suddenly being Octavia’s equal. It completely wrecks the transitive property of this show’s power levels. It’s not like it made much sense in the game anyway. Octavia was supposed to have some crazy agility and skills while Arthur was a clumsy brute… despite her actually being only marginally less useful than Llyr, thanks to getting crappy attack spells instead of healing.

Mostly though, this episode went absolutely nowhere, and failed to be interesting or entertaining. Octavia wandered around Avalon, made friends with everybody, and… that’s honestly it. Both the Morgan and Arthur scenes with her were particularly exhasperating. Sudden random childhood memories and "Swords don’t lie?" Good lord, could they have thought up a more inane cliche just to shoehorn a little 15 second squabble in? I would have preferred it if they had fought the giant CG crabs again.

In the continuing list of animation oddities that confuse me, Morgan’s giant throbbing ass tops the list

    They had to spend some time giving an explanation for why they don’t kill Octavia as threatened in the previous episode and they had to make her super-best-friends with everyone so she’s okay with murdering her former comrades.

    At least they only wasted one episode on it.

      Well, her old boss tried to kill her, and then she was stuffed in a crate and left to die. Her loyalty to the selfsame people really shouldn’t have been all that questionable given the circumstances.

        Well, she was basically always completely loyal to the empire. I could see that loyalty outliving their need of her unless…you know the Gael had super cute kids.

        That’s where you’re wrong Aro… if we all dare to remember the PC version, she already explained to Arawn that, even if she were to be tortured to death, as punishment, she would rather go back to the empire (right before the bondage sex)…. wow… this is EXACTLY like what happened to Suzaku in CG, only she actually joins… I mean… you work like hell to bring someone safely back, and then they turn around, try to kill you, and say they wann go back…. sigh….

        Well, the PC version didn’t have her show up at all until she was in the box and she wasn’t aware that she was sitting alongside a bunch of corpses on her way to death. Above and beyond that, they hadn’t tried to execute her twice already, so… not quite the same.

    Is it just me, or is Arawn setting up Arthur for Octavia…?

    “YOU assess her alignment!”

    “YOU go fetch her!”

    “YOU go have a swordfight with her… wait, I didn’t say that one…”

    arawn is just trying to make arthur understand that he can’t just judge a person from the outside but u need to know her inside as well before judging her.

      Still, you can’t deny that they now have a connection with each other through the experience.

      And I thought holding a woman’s hand was a sign of a proposal for Empire people…?

    Did Arawm make Octavia his wife this episode? Come on! It should at least show it this episode dammit! Since the next one doesn’t have the right setting for it.

    I think Arthur and Octavia mesh well together. It would be cool to see them hook up. As for the episode, I really liked Octavia’s role as mentor to those two kids. And watching and hearing her style of swordsmanship against Arthur’s, it’s fitting that they should cross swords and have a mild difference in how they approach different issues. But they also compliment each other, both in character and swordsmanship. And Arawan seems to understand both sides of this very well. Overall, Octavia is a fantastic addition to their group and all the characters represented themselves great in this episode.

    As far as Arthur/ vs Octavia powerwise is concerned, to me it makes perfect sense that Arthur would be equal or stronger than her based on the anime itself. I haven’t played the game and the anime doesn’t give any disclaimer saying you must play the game to understand the plot. I accept the otherness of the series and accept what they present at face value. From what i’ve seen, taken from an objective point of view, Arthur has proven himself to be a dedicated and ambitious leader of his tribe and it is that ambition and love of his people that gives him strength. In retrospect, Octavia gains her strength through her honor and morals.

    My opinion, they compliment each other and I see no problem with them coming out as equals in the end.

    I like Arthur and Octavia togrther, and its pointless for Arawn to make Octavia his wife; because he already has a crush on Rhiannon, and Arthur seems to be more concerned and interested in Octavia. And its true, he proposes Octavia by giving her his hand

    Arthur+Octavia fans r ryt. they like each other from the part they talked while they were walking…..
    and arthur proposes Octavia by giving her his hand, which means Octavia is the Queen of the pendragon Arthur(king)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

    Arawn really loves rhiannon, becaus she was his past wife(Primula) and in one of the epsodes, Arawn gazes at Rhiannon’s breasts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
