Tears to Tiara #07 — Empty Minds

May 17th, 2009

Morgan’s and mine.

Impressions:

Well, this is still the usual decent overall production, but I’m starting to get desensitized to it. I blame how one-sided it’s been lately. Morgan shoots some dude in the throat, Arawn slashs some stooges without looking, Arthur wets himself in awe. It’s become mundane. Still well above average, but it’s almost the same thing week in and week out. Let’s see some real sparks here. Hopefully they’ll save up next week against these terrible pathetic redshirts and go all out for Arawn’s relatively soon to come big moment. At the very least, they could make my game of "count the stealth panty shots" a little more interesting.

Anyway, Arawn’s final mistress joins up to work on his swords work on his sword, the Totali special, an overpowered boku-using loli miner elf. Seriously, she outdamages Arawn and Arthur combined. I think they added the cat ears just to make sure they hit every major anime fetish.  Otherwise though, not really too much new outside of the Octavia’s blossoming pseudo-lesbian affair with Morgan. I am curious how they’re going to handle how she joins up in this version though. In the game, the first time you see her is tied up in a box. Arawn tries to ignore her, but Arthur decides to deliver her to Arawn’s bedroom without his knowledge and… yada yada… bondage sex.

Yeah, I admit it. I have absolutely nothing worthwhile or intelligent to say at the moment.

Yeah, this is starting to remind me of Utawarerumono all over again. Interesting Beginning and Ending punctuated by repetitve weekly battles with both sides doing the same thing over and over again.

  • anon111 says:

Actually, going off of the game (which the anime apparently follows pretty faithfully for the most part), I’d say that the very beginning (up until the start of the rebellion) and the very end of Utawarerumono were its weakest points.

The middle has lots of fun character interaction between lovable characters (which is really the biggest contributor to what made Utawarerumono worthwhile) and “the problem of the week”s were interesting enough.

  • Kabitzin says:

Awesome twist in trying to keep Morgan relevant since she can never be a real player in the Arawn sweepstakes. While Morgan is so damn stupid, I still love watching her put arrows in throats.

  • karuroso says:

Just to have some idea…atleast how many eps until Octavia joins the party?

  • The Phantom says:

Yes, empty, empty are the heads of nearly all the females in this series, it seems that the only barely interesting girl is Octavia.

  • Silver says:

    @ The Phantom

Yeah, I find the interesting girls is Octavia and one of the maid that I suddenly forgot her name. The others are rather ridiculous but still fun to watch and not really annoying so I don’t at all. Actually, I thought Rathy is not exactly bad either. Llyr? No way.

  • Avisch says:

Wish they would tone down of the use of the “Beauty Equals Goodness” trope. I hate looking at ugly disgusting villains. They only use “Evil is Sexy” for Lydia apparently.

“Otherwise though, not really too much new outside of the Octavia’s blossoming pseudo-lesbian affair with Morgan”

Dammit your were not kidding. You could keep count on the number of times they gave each other gratitude.
