Slayers Evolution-R #12 — Rezolution

March 30th, 2009

I hope it was as painful to read that as it was to write it.

Impressions:

Ugh. I really miss Naga now. At least she would have made this semi-amusing. The entire episode I kept hoping for some kind of evil Rezo semi-twist. "Aha, he’s going to revive the villagers and they’ll all die of the plague!" "Okay… that medicine will really convert them to his army of the living dead!" "…Maybe Taforashia is really some kind of evil cult nation out for world conquest?" "He’ll just kill them all now out of general spite?" "No… *SIGH*" You’ve already given an entire kingdom a deadly plague, tortured and experimented on hundreds of creatures, and become a soul consuming demon overlord once… is it really too much to ask for a little extra evil down the stretch here?

Apparently yes. The big surprising twist that nobody could have ever seen coming is that Rezo and Shabby are a package deal, and Rezo’s too much of a jerk to 86 himself for the greater good before Shabby wakes up and destroys everything. Meanwhile, Xellos is just annoyed because the balance of power will be messed up. Talk about your generic "I hate powerful people" schticks. Bleh. Unfortunately, it took almost all of the episode to get to that stunning revelation and the big showdown will be all crammed into the final. Maybe we’ll get lucky and one of the Lost Universe spaceships will crash on Taforashia, wiping the entire blasted kingdom off the map.

6 Shouts From the Peanut Gallery

  • Qumi says:

Ermmm… you’re really into this evil thingy :P ? I on the contrary would like him to become somewhat good, sad character who will need to confront the reality and understand the pain he inflicted :P The thing that the Shabby will ress again is kinda of illogical to me, cuz this part was already destroyed once… I hope that at least manga will be more suprising :)

  • Kikaifan says:

Wait. Seriously, the entire plot is just ‘let’s do season 1 again, but with more pots?’

  • DmonHiro says:

I don’t get it. Rezo’s SOUL was in the jar. Why the fuck is that piece of the demon lord still in there. They fucking destroyed it.

  • Anonymous says:

i dont know but hopefully the last episode will be better, they’ll bring naga back, they’ll start a new season,or all of thee above, so fuck it

  • V-chan says:

Zel-human? O_o I though that they said that he CAN’T be a human.

  • gokudomatic says:

    finally subbed.
well… this confirmed my idea that shabranigdu was sealed in the soul and not the physical eyes, even if I don’t get how a part of a soul is related to a part of the body. Also I suppose it was obvious that Rezo summoned Lina so she would kill him again because only she can do it.

true that the first half was pretty boring. but the last 5 minutes were quite intense.
Also seeing Xelloss finally fighting for real was impressive. … and in a way very similar to the common mazoku fighting style. Looks like Xelloss is only made to bully weak ones.
But how can Rezo use Shabby powers without waking him up? Rezo couldn’t survive again Xelloss (I never thought I’ll see the day where they fight each other) if it was only about his human magic powers.
