Ga-rei -Zero- #09 — Inappropriate Touching

Very inappropriate touching.

Impressions:

I had honestly hoped that most of this episode would just take place offscreen since pretty much all of it i completely predictable and the entire course of the episode could be charted from the first 15 seconds. Yomi wasn’t killed outright, but then rushed to the hospital where she’s pronounced as a mute quadripeligic. Of course, then the inquiry into Mei’s death by her hands follows, Noriyuki’s father breaks off the marriage to a one eyed mute quadripeligic murderess and forbids him from visiting her, and butterfly boy shows up at the end to molest her with the Death Stone.

I really could have done without the sexual overtones of him rubbing the stone all over Yomi’s body, to say nothing of him putting it in his mouth and licking her arm. I think that’s a new level of inappropriate fanservice for the show, though I’m not sure anything that disturbs and repulses me should even be considered fanservice. I thought that the ‘touching’ scene right before the rape was also pretty clumisly handled. They interspersed scenes of Kagura sobbing and talking about how unfair it was in one time frame with shots of her seemingly happily taking care of Yomi from another and it just completely worked against the scene. At least the music was pretty nice. I think it’d have also helped if more than 2 minutes of the episode had occurred outside of Yomi’s hospital room and flashbacks. Man, I wa tired of staring at that same shot of her lying in bed.

    Well it at least appears we’re back at episode 1 again, maybe now the series will move forward?

    Lol so true, what was the whole point of it. Basically what is the whole point of this series?

    I mean the reason i looked forward towards Ga-Rei was because the manga was behind and nobody was translating it and i expeted the anime to be true to the manga so i was excited.

    But this is disappointing.

    I don’t know why, but this anime seems to make me rage more often than entertained.

    Actually, I’d give a diff account for it. Imo, this was probably the best episode of the lot, showing a new side to why Yomi went bad. I mean, granted, two episodes ago, three people were alive and well, but if they had expanded these three a little more, then hit Yomi with this one to cap it off, it would’ve been a better lead-in.

    From, what I’m getting, you’re complaining about it going too slowly with too much “inappropriate touching”, but if those other episodes didn’t shove so much into Yomi all at once, this episode would’ve been just fine. I’d blame 7 and 8 for jumping too fast. Hell, the end of 6 was fast enough as is.

    Anyway, the touching, I think was just to show how much of a bastard the kid was. Think about the manga, right? In that sense, it’s very true to it. Also, xD the shot’s just askew. He’s not licking her with the stone. xD He’s got the stone in his left hand and her arm’s just blocking his mouth from view while his hand’s rubbing the stone over her wounds. You can see the rest of his arm moving as he’s “licking”. I don’t think they’d go that far down a hentai road. xD

    Also, the Kagura part was very touching. Remember where that’s from? Ep 04 before things went downhill for everybody. =P
