Sekirei #10 — Love, Justice, and Sexuality

September 3rd, 2008

What are the weapons of a Sekirei? I’ll take Potent Potables for $1000.

Bonus points if you get that reference, by the way… and not the Jeopardy one.

Impressions:

Man, are there really only two episodes left? –checks broadcast schedule– A’yup. *sigh*

Not the most interesting episode. In fact, I don’t think too many people would argue if I said it was probably the weakest Sekirei episode to date. The entire thing was pretty much setup for the last two episodes, a healthy degree of Tsukiumi angsting, and Kazehana randomly twittering on about love in the background. Tsukiumi’s little practice session with Miya was basically the two trading attacks and then Tsukiumi ending up naked. She does get props for managing to mostly reconstruct her clothes out of the tattered shreds. How she managed to do that… I have no clue. Seo was also in full on pimp mode at the start of the episode with his arms around both his passed out pikachus Hibiki and Hikari. It is worth nothing that they’re bondage suits cover up more of their asses than their daisy dukes.

Otherwise… bleh. "Let’s make a plan to get these two chumps out of town. Here’s the names of the villain so this series can finally have an antagonist. Tsukiumi is arrogant and doesn’t like the plan/feels like she’s being left out, so Miya knocks her down a peg and then Kusano yells at her for not helping out their trainer ashikabi." That’s really pretty much it. The episode ends with them heading off to fight while Tsukiumi sits on the rooftop and listens to some Lincoln Park. Even giving herself a groping with Minato’s hand didn’t cheer her up. I’m not certain there’s anything else that could be done, at least in the bizarro Sekirei world of female relations. Feed her some rare candy or something and get on with it.

Preview:

After 20 minutes of planning a giant fight as a distraction… I wonder what’ll happen when they go off to cause it? It’s a mystery to me!

Hells yeah it does. Fanservice or not this show has the POTENTIAL to deliver, and I for one, feel that it was cut out because the series was only running for 12 episodes.

If we can get a second season going, maybe we’ll get some more… you know… plot going.

That much to proper “Information”, though it isn’t really my problem, since I’m happy ^_^.
