Kimikiss ~ Pure Rouge #23 — Tempted by the Fruit of Another

March 15th, 2008

Way to make the meaningless last minute play… twice.

Impressions:

Well, Sakino, at least you went out like a champ. No muss, no fuss. No unneeded clinging or excessive crying. You deserve better than Kazuki anyway. Find yourself some nice bronzed Brazilian boytoy to keep you busy. Unfortunately, Futami is still being all depressed and whiny for no real reason. The Kouichi and Mao thing also was basically on hold for the entire episode. I still don’t understand at all how Kai is unattached or why Mao would give up on him. The dude can cook, clean, play sax, moonlights on KimiAru… Kouichi can… mope around and read the Dog of Flandres. Why is this even a choice? I also kind of wish Kuryu had been around a bit more. This eleventh hour infatuation with Hiiragi feels kind of forced. Why couldn’t we have had more of her and less of Mitsuki? What was the point of her again? At least Kuryu provides physical abuse to people who badly need it.

I have to admit that I am kind of happy that we’re going into the last episode with at least a question of what Kouichi is going to pick instead of just going through the feigned motions. I’m pretty sure I’ll still be displeased however it turns out, but I really can see them going both ways here. Ha HA… both ways. Oh well, Sakino got her kiss, confessed, and is being nice and mature about it. She’d have stood a chance had she done it about 8 episodes sooner, but then we probably wouldn’t have gotten cute flustered Futami. Such is life.

The day of the school fair is finally here. The movie group somehow finished their DVDs, though Hiiragi looks like he may be undead. They all prep and Kazuki apologizes, but he’s got something else to do. Hiiragi tells Kouichi to spend the day with Yumi. Kazuki and Hiiragi push the lovebirds out to go have fun together.

Kazuki waves goodbye to them like a goofus. Good word… goofus.

Kuryu wanders in just as Kazuki was talking about her and pulls him out to go deal with his responsibilities elsewhere. Hiiragi is left alone with the script.

Montage of people going to school or wandering around. A little Futami, a little Sakino, a little Mao, etc. More of Kuryu dragging Kazuki around and how about a shot of blue sky why not?

More shots of the fair. Kouichi and Yumi discuss where to go. He says that wherever she wants is fine.

Mao runs around, but sees the two lovebirds together and hides.

More shots of the fair. Human mole hammering and Kazuki moping around at the 2-A booth until Kuryu beats him. A couple walks past on the way to a crepe thing. Kazuki wants Futami to get there.

Little miss whiny is watching Sakino practice. She thinks of all the times she saw Kaz with Sakino.

At a haunted house thing, Yumi clings to Kouichi. He takes her hand and they continue together. When they reach the end, vampiress Mitsuki is waiting for them. She has knives stuck in her too. They chatter mindlessly about the haunted house before telling Mitsuki where they’re heading off to next.

The Udon stand is also popular. Lots of customers… and then Narumi’s grandfather shows up to sample the wares.

Kouichi and Yumi wander around too. People are crowding around something CRIZ-AZY. Never let me say CRIZ-AZY again. It’s just Narumi’s grandfather, who smiles at her and everybody cheers. He gets up and leaves while they’re celebrating.

There isn’t enough sarcasm in the world to express my disdain for this scene. Yumi and Kouichi also show up and congratulate them. Nana goes all spazzy saying how they’re so "love love."

Waitress/Maid Mao invites people into their Crepe Restaurant. Poor Kai is in a frilly apron and being forced to make the food. Seriously, are there no other males in this class or is Kai just banging them all?

Sakino steels herself and scores another goal on the empty net. It’s a lot harder when there’s a goalie, dollface.

Kazuki and Kuryu are finishing with their duties and wander off, letting Kouichi and Yumi take over. Kazuki is all happy for them celebrating their youth. Those are hormones, Kazuki, not youth. He runs off and the lovebirds take over. They start greeting guests and whatnot.

Futami walks through the school by herself. Kazuki finds her and she perks up. He tells her that he’s done with his class duties, now it’s soccer. he runs off before she says or does much of anything. Good work, Futami.

The soccer team gets a peptalk.

Announcement over the loudspeaker and all the main characters converge to cheer on Kazuki and Sakino. Sakino kicks ass and takes names, but her teammates are kind of sucking it up. Mao once again hides from Kouichi and Yumi.

Hiiragi hands out fliers… including one to Kuryu, who blushes at him and then helps him hand out the rest of his fliers.

The soccer match continues. Kazuki tackles the ball away from an opponent and Sakino is ecstatic. Futami watches (maybe) from her room.

Sakino kisses the soccer ball and takes a shot. She bounces it off the crossbar.

The crepes continue to be popular.

Goal! Too bad it’s for the wrong team. Kaz and Sakino are down 3-0 in the second half. The match continues, Kazuki steals it and passes it up to Sakino. She uses her feminine padding to trap it and then dodges and scores. Kazuki congratulates her. You’re still losing, guys.

The game ends, 1-3. Kazuki and Sakino spazz out at eachother for that one good play. The coach interrupts them and tells Sakino that he wants to recruit her for a women’s soccer team.

Sakino is thrilled and then turns to Kazuki, telling him that she has something she needs to say. He says that he needs to meet with Futami, but she tells him she needs to talk to him.

Futami is at the soccer field now in the crowd. Kouichi and Yumi chatter about Sakino and Kaz, but Kouichi suddenly stops. Yumi looks at him, and he’s staring at Mao. What a putz. Yumi jolts him out of it and asks where they should go next.

Sakino drags Kazuki to a secluded area. Kaz still has no clue whatsoever. She turns around and looks straight at him. Then grins and blushes.

She blurts out that she likes Kazuki. She apologizes, but that’s how she really feels and she wants him to be happy. Kazuki apologizes, but then thanks her. Sakino walks forward and kisses him. She then runs off, telling him that she’ll make him regret it with a grin. He thanks her again as she runs off.

At the movie club, Hiiragi’s movie has everybody in tears, even Kuryu.

Kazuki finishes getting changed and runs out to the front gate to meet Futami. Her lab room is empty.

KOUICHI IS SUCH A TORTURED SOUL.

  • Hinano says:

Haha yea the Kuryu thing was weird.
Im like why does she suddenly have an interest in him again ?_? Buildup plz JC staff? D:

  • Chen says:

    Ha ha, YES!!

This is the moment I was waiting for ever since the OP got refurbished. Now if Kai and Sakino were to hook up…

  • Taku says:

Futami must go away now…I want her to tell Kazuki that she isn’t the one he likes.

    • RG says:

why don’t you like her being with Kouichi…that’s kind of stupid because she was originally supposed to be with Kouichi if you read the manga

  • Tensho says:

Ok, just finished the episode and this is my opinion. This episode is quite enjoyable and great compare to the last few, I guess it’s the festival atmosphere and the Sakino finally make up her mind and confess plus the Mao’s (honestly I don’t like her being couple with Kouichi but I must admit she is quite something the way she resolved her feeling with Kouichi). Finally there is only next week (if it’s really 24 eps) and hopefully the producer will make the boys resolve their problem nicely, or there will be many complaints that people waited for 24 weeks for nothing.

  • Westlo says:

It’s a pity Kuryu didn’t at least get as much screentime as the fucking frogs ffs…

  • totali says:

Tempted but the truth is discovered~!

Man, what was up with Asuka kissing that soccer ball….isn’t that dirty?

  • Jauken7 says:

All I can say is yeah for the Udon Twins, they finally made Grandpa proud! (yes, I know they aren’t actually twins, not even related for that matter) But why couldn’t they have forgotten the frogs for once, ARGH! They are cute when they’re happy though… the girls, not the frogs.

Glad to see Megumi softening up a bit. Maybe she and Akira would make a good pair after all. Go for it!

Kouichi is dog crap! Yuumi deserves so much better. Mao should go back to France and forget his ass.

Asuka was so awesome cool. Kazuki was a real gentleman. Poor Eriko is sbaotaging herself for no good reason. Kaz and Eri need to have some serious one on one to clear it all up for good.
