Crouching Tiger, Amazing Detective #15 — Byakko vs the Shota

January 18th, 2008

Well… since Mayuki doesn’t have any tea… my money’s on Byakko.

Impressions:

Man… when did this show get good interesting entertaining again? Most of the first part was pretty forgettable, then Byakko struck out on her own (and later got a beating from Seiju for it) to go have some personal playtime with the boy wonder. Seiran had to be a punk and butt in, but Byakko, knowing what a prize she had in front of her, immediately tore up his shirt for the man-candy inside. I also rather enjoyed Seiran bouncing off bamboo gracefully only to have Byakko land on his head. I’m not even sure what the point of hopping off the bamboo was when you’ve got a Chinese assassin doll with a knife in her shoe above you. Maybe there was a mixup in the choreography. There were also some choice camera angles during the fight that made me chuckle as well. Byakko makes everything better.

I’d also like to point out that I so called Byakko either turning good or getting killed by the real head bad guy way back in episode 1. Sure, it was predictable, but all the same… nyeh. I knew they wouldn’t let Horie languish as the unappreciated and soulless assassin. Especially not while she’s got a manbuffet like Seiran and his two cuties to wrassle.
