Bamboo Blade #1 — Needs More Blades, Less Bamboo

October 1st, 2007

That, or set them on fire.

Impressions:

Eh, color me underimpressed with this one. It has a lot more generic ‘sports show’ feel than I had thought it would and a lot less comedy. That isn’t to say that it was totally humorless, as I did get a chuckle out of the kids playing streetball, and the flurry of balls… plus an old man all tossed at our hapless heroes at once, but for the most part, it just plain wasn’t particularly engaging or amusing. There just wasn’t enough energy in the show to even spark my interest more than a couple times. Production values were pretty weak too. Lots and lots and lots of speedlines, shots of people talking from the back, and cheap/crappy CG, so I wouldn’t really hold my breath if you’re expecting to be blown away there.

I’m not really sure what else to say. It was a rather predictable and forgettable episode that just coasted along… and then ended. I have little desire to see what happens next, and there was almost nothing memorable that really stuck out to call attention to either. *shrug*

No summaries for the first episodes. I write as I watch, and I don’t know if I’ll care about a show until after the first episode.

    No love love, no touchy

  • kimagure says:

I’m required to watch this as I actually practice Kendo :p.

So I really hope it doesn’t suck as much as I think it will.

Wow, are you going to blog this serie?
I think it is quiet interesting.
This season I expect to watch this one, mokke and shanna.

  • […] Reason for name: I named this guy Sensei because he reminded me of Ishida-sensei (is that his name?) from Bamboo Blade. […]
